Masseter Botox Chandler + Scottsdale, AZ

Masseter
Botox

If you're looking to slim your jawline or alleviate teeth grinding, our Masseter Botox treatment could be the perfect solution for you. Located in Chandler and serving the Scottsdale area, our clinic specializes in this effective, non-surgical procedure.

Masseter Botox involves injecting botulinum toxin into the masseter muscles, which are responsible for chewing. This treatment relaxes the muscles, reducing their size and prominence, leading to a slimmer jawline and relief from teeth grinding (bruxism).

Provider assessment is required for this service.

A provider assessment is required prior to treatment.

  • Have an overly prominent jawline due to enlarged masseter muscles.

  • Avoid Blood Thinners: Refrain from taking aspirin, ibuprofen, and other blood-thinning medications or supplements (like fish oil or vitamin E) for one week before treatment to reduce the risk of bruising.

  • Limit Alcohol: Avoid alcohol consumption for at least 24 hours prior to your appointment.

  • Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your treatment to keep your skin hydrated.

  • Clean Skin: Ensure the treatment area is clean and free of makeup on the day of the procedure.

  • Oral Hygiene: Maintain good oral hygiene, as the chin area is close to the mouth. Brush and floss your teeth before the appointment.

  • Avoid Dental Procedures: If you’ve had recent dental work or have an upcoming dental appointment, inform your provider as this may impact the timing of your Botox treatment.

  • Cold Sores History: If you have a history of cold sores (herpes simplex virus), inform your provider. They may prescribe an antiviral medication to prevent an outbreak triggered by the injection.

  • Consult with Provider: Discuss your medical history, allergies, and any medications you are currently taking with your healthcare provider.

What should I do before my treatment?

PRE-CARE

  • Avoid Touching the Area: Do not touch, rub, or massage the treated area for at least 24 hours. This helps prevent the botulinum toxin from spreading to unintended areas.

  • Stay Upright: Remain upright for at least 4 hours after the injection. Avoid lying down or bending over excessively during this time.

  • Limit Physical Activity: Avoid strenuous exercise, heavy lifting, and activities that cause excessive sweating for 24 hours post-treatment. This reduces the risk of bruising and swelling.

  • Avoid Heat Exposure: Stay away from saunas, hot tubs, tanning beds, and prolonged sun exposure for a few days. Heat can increase the risk of swelling and bruising.

  • Be Gentle with Oral Hygiene: Brush your teeth gently and avoid aggressive flossing for the first 24 hours. Be cautious with mouthwash to prevent irritation.

  • Avoid Alcohol and Smoking: Refrain from consuming alcohol and smoking for at least 24 hours, as these can increase the risk of complications and delay healing.

  • Cold Compress: If you experience any swelling or bruising, apply a cold compress to the area for short intervals (10 minutes on, 10 minutes off) to help reduce inflammation.

  • Monitor for Adverse Reactions: Watch for any signs of excessive swelling, pain, or infection. If you experience any unusual symptoms, contact your healthcare provider immediately.
